Patola weaving, Gujarat

 

A photo journal of the traditional ikat weaving technique of Gujarat called ‘patola’. I am looking forward to do some work with this community of weavers soon.

A warp ready to be dyed. The visible pattern is made by resisting specific yarns by tying them. The untied parts will be colored with dyes to make the pattern.
