A photo journal of the traditional ikat weaving technique of Gujarat called ‘patola’. I am looking forward to do some work with this community of weavers soon.

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

Dyed weft yarn, ready to become bobbins and be woven to match with the weft.

Colourful bobbins for wefts that will go inside shuttles.

A warp ready to be dyed. The visible pattern is made by resisting specific yarns by tying them. The untied parts will be colored with dyes to make the pattern.

Beautiful Patola Samples

This the work of master craftsmen of Surendranagar Gujarat who work on custom made orders.
